This week's book:
Slewfoot: A Tale of Bewitchery
By Gerald Brom
I listened to Krampus around Christmas last month. This week's book is by the same author as Krampus. When I was reading the book in a buddy read, everyone was raving about Slewfoot being even better than the book we were reading at the time. Since I enjoyed Krampus so much I ended up buying two other books by Brom.
I started Slewfoot right at the beginning of the month and it took me forever to actually read it. The novel is very dark and a dense book. It takes place in 1666 in a Puritan settlement. A young bride from England is trying to fit into her new home, but keeps struggling with all the rules she is supposed to follow. Weird, dark things begin to happen, and she ends up making deals with a goat man.
The book wasn't bad; I just didn't like it as much as Krampus. I might just not have been in the right mood to read it.
